I was editor of the Mount Vernon News for 10 years, and managed a vascular surgery practice for 18 years. I have a bachelors degree in communications and an associate degree in business management. I am able to write on a wide range of topics, including health and fitness, business and government, and education, religion and senior issues. I have a special interest in health care and senior issues. I write clear, concise copy which needs very little editing. Although my background is in formal, newspaper-style writing, I am able to write in the somewhat more informal style found on most websites. I received a first-place award from the Associated Press Society of Ohio in the category of Best Breaking News, and an honorable mention from APSO for feature writing. I have been a runner for 30 years, and an ultra runner for five, which gives me an appreciation for and understanding of the commitment and dedication of athletes at all levels.
